About the Journal
The American Journal on Addictions (AJA) is the official journal of the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry. The Academy encourages research on the etiology, prevention, identification, and treatment of substance abuse; thus, the journal provides a forum for the dissemination of information in the extensive field of addiction.
Each issue (six per year) of this publication covers a wide variety of topics ranging from codependence to genetics, epidemiology to dual diagnostics, etiology to neuroscience, and much more. Features of the journal, all written by experts in the field, include special overview articles, clinical or basic research papers, clinical updates, and book reviews within the area of addictions.
Readership is comprised of psychiatrists, psychologists, academics and counselors specializing in addictions treatment, as well as all professionals dealing with addictions and addictions therapy in clinical or applied settings.

The American Journal on Addictions welcomes new manuscript submissions. The Journal publishes special overview articles, original clinical or basic research papers, clinical updates, book reviews and letters within the area of addictions. If you have written a manuscript on substance use disorders, please consider submitting it to the Journal. After an initial screening, manuscripts are peer-reviewed, a process that takes approximately eight weeks.
The American Journal on Addictions continues to recruit new reviewers for manuscripts submitted for publication. Reviewers for the Journal provide a thorough, unbiased review of a manuscript written on a topic in their area(s) of expertise. For more information, e-mail email@example.com.
