Sheldon I. Miller, MD was a founding member of the organization, and a mentor and friend to several generations of Addiction Psychiatrists. He advocated, passionately, for psychiatric education, the field of Addiction Psychiatry, and the best possible care for addicted individuals. In an effort to commemorate Dr. Millers many contributions in fostering research and education in Addiction Psychiatry and as a leader in establishing the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry (AAAP) , the Sheldon I. Miller Educational Fund was established in his honor. All proceeds fund educational activities for trainees. These activities include travel awards to fund medical students, residents or fellows to attend the Annual Meeting.
Donations can be made through AAAPs webstore. Also, notecards depicting Dr. Miller’s beautiful photographic images will be available for purchase. You may also call AAAP’s National office to give a credit card number over the phone to (401) 524-3076.
