The American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry has review courses to help physicians prepare for the ABPN Examination for Subspecialty Certification in Addiction Psychiatry. AAAP offers review courses early in each year that an examination is given.
AAAP will offer a Review Course in Addiction Psychiatry in Kansas City, Missouri in February 2002, prior to the spring exams.
The Course will continue to meet the high academic and scientific standards set by AAAP over the past decade. The Course is excellent preparation for the ABPN examination for subspecialty certification in addiction psychiatry. Past participants have recommended that this be required for PGY-5 residents, for general psychiatry residents, as well as periodically for all academic and treatment personnel to stay updated on the most recent trends in the addiction field. They have found it an excellent way to "piece seemingly disparate aspects together," and "an eye-opener!" It is equally relevant to junior faculty and clinicians and to experienced practitioners. All course participants receive a 200-page syllabus that contains an annotated outline of each lecture, hard copies of presenters’ slides, a bibliography/reading list and sample questions. This continuing medical education activity will be designated for Category 1 credits of the Physician’s Recognition Award of the AMA. In addition, it will meet requirements for CE’s of the American Psychological Association.
