Awards
For Residents & Early Career Psychiatrists
Submission Deadline: September 1, 2007
Two AAAP Research Awards are available annually and will be presented at the 18th Annual Meeting and Symposium of the Academy, to be held November 29 – December 2, 2007, at the Hotel del Coronado in Coronado, CA. One of the annual awards will be reserved for research involving racial and ethnic minorities. The awards will be presented based on the quality of original addiction research conducted by the applicant and the demonstrated commitment of the applicant to the field of addiction psychiatry. Travel and lodging costs (up to $1,500) will be provided, and the meeting registration fee will be waived. Award-winning research will be presented during the Paper Session on Sunday, December 2, 2007.
Qualifications
The applicant must be one of the following and have completed the bulk of his or her research during this time:
- a general psychiatry resident
- a PGY 5 or higher addiction psychiatry resident (fellow) in an ACGME-accredited addiction psychiatry subspecialty program
- an early career psychiatrist who has either completed a psychiatry residency or completed an ACGME-accredited addiction psychiatry residency (fellowship) within 12 months of October 1, 2006.

2. A description of the context of the research, e.g., rationale for selecting the topic, role of mentors
3. The research manuscript in publishable form (abstract and complete paper)
4. A complete Curriculum Vitae
