One
AAAP Young Investigator Award (or research award) is available annually and will be presented at
the 20th Annual Meeting and Symposium, to be held
December 3-6, 2009, at the Hyatt Regency Century Plaza in Los
Angeles, California. The Young Investigator
Award will be presented based on the quality of original
addiction research conducted by the applicant and the demonstrated
commitment of the applicant to the field of addiction psychiatry. We
encourage women and minorities to submit their work. Travel and
lodging costs will be provided, and the meeting
registration fee will be waived. Award-winning research will
be presented during the Paper Session on Sunday,
December 6, 2009. Attending and presenting
at the 20th Annual Meeting and Symposium in Los Angeles, CA is mandatory.
Qualifications
The applicant must be one of the following and have completed the
bulk of his or her research during this time:

a
general psychiatry resident
-
a
PGY-5 or higher addiction psychiatry resident (fellow) in an
ACGME-accredited addiction
psychiatry
subspecialty program
-
an
early career psychiatrist who has either completed a psychiatry
residency or completed an
ACGME-accredited addiction psychiatry
residency (fellowship) within 12 months of Oct.
1st, 2007.
