2/28/20 – Treating OUD in a Corrections Setting the Focus of January ORN Conference

What started as a technical assistance request to the Opioid Response Network from the Rhode Island Department of Corrections (RIDOC) became a national conference for department of corrections staff and others in the justice system to learn promising models in implementing Medications for Opioid Use Disorder (MOUD). 10/10/19 – How Can the Opioid Response Network Help You?

The Opioid Response Network (ORN) is a SAMHSA initiative created as part of the STR-TA grant awarded to the American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and a large coalition of national professional organizations. ORN provides free technical assistance (training, education, and resources) for the prevention, treatment and recovery of opioid use disorder. Read more

8/29/19 – SAMHSA releases National Survey on Drug Use and Health

In a video presentation released with the NSDUH report, Elinore F. McCance-Katz, MD, PhD, Assistant Secretary for Mental Health and Substance Use, highlighted the State Targeted Response Technical Assistance grant. Dr. McCance-Katz says the Opioid Response Network “puts teams in every state to address the needs of that state as it relates to opioid issues.” She underscored that the “program has had over 1,000 requests already and those requests have all been met to meet the needs of Americans living with opioid issues.” Read more

7/29/19 – TA Requests Hit Major Milestone

7/12/19 – ORN Increases Support for American Indians and Alaska Natives

American Indians and Alaska Natives are second only to whites in the rate of opioid-related mortality with 8/100,000 versus 12/100,000 deaths respectively. To help address this crisis, the Opioid Response Network has received supplemental funding from the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration to expand technical assistance services focusing on tribal communities.
