Job Description: Meridian Psychotherapy was founded in 1989 focused on addiction medicine and trauma recovery, a leader in these fields in the Tidewater area. Tidewater consists of seven contiguous cities on salt water either the ocean or the Chesapeake Bay or tidal tributaries.We are advertising now because lost our leader Dr Legree Halllman. His death was unexpected. He was our link to inpatient detox at the Virginia Psychiatric Center. That has been a vital link for our practice. The new doctor will be asked to fill his shoes at that hospital. Currently we have 2 addiction medicine specialists and one psychiatrist who is certified in addiction medicine/addiction psychiatry but all work part time and not inpatient. Meridian has 7 counselors who all together do 10 groups per week not including the IOP. We also have outpatient detox and MAT. Several counselors specialize in trauma recovery. Sexual compulsion therapy is covered part time by one of the addiction specialists and one of the counselors. The work atmosphere is out standing. The administrator has been here since our founding. Pay is though 1099. Faculty appointments available at Eastern Virginia Medical school, teaching is integral to our work.

Job Responsibilities: Inpatient responsibilities at the Virginia Beach Psychiatric Center as an Addiction Psychiatrist on the detox and partial hospitalization units. Responsibilities on the psychiatric units are optional, cross coverage is available on all units. Outpatient responsibilities in addiction psychiatry, the practice of psychiatry independent of addiction treatment is welcomed.

Required education/experience: Board Certified in Psychiatry with certification in Addiction Medicine and/or Addiction Psychiatry.

Required licenses/certifications: MD with state license in Virginia plus board certified in Psychiatry with additional certification in addiction medicine.
