Job Responsibilities:
The primary focus of this position will be to provide clinical care and guidance in the area of substance use disorders. In this role you will assume care for new general adult patients admitted to the Psychiatry inpatient unit, as required. In addition, you will be involved with outpatient programs at our Mental Health and Substance Use Center, primarily supporting the Alcohol & Drug program. This team provides care and support to patients who are in all stages of addressing Substance Use Disorders, through individual and group modalities. There is a Methadone/Buprenorphine-Naloxone program that is currently managed by sub-specialized family physicians; you would provide psychiatric consultations as required. These facilities see high volumes of substance-related presentations. This position requires active staff privileges at our facilities and you will be the Most Responsible Physician when your patients are admitted to hospital. Required education/experience

  • Doctorate in Medicine
  • Demonstrated expertise and experience in Addictions psychiatry.

Required licenses/certifications

  • Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of Canada (FRCPC)
  • Eligible for licensure with CPSBC
  • Coverage with the Canadian Medical Protective Association is mandatory.
