Job Description: The Veterans Affairs San Diego Healthcare System (VASDHS) Mental Health Care Line is recruiting for one full-time psychiatrist to join our Addiction Program, as the Medical Director of the VASDHS Substance Abuse Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (SARRTP), with a start date of July 2020. The psychiatrist will be located in our La Jolla Medical Center and will be integrated into our well-established addiction team. SARRTP is an active teaching site for trainees from University of California San Diego and VASDHS, including the UCSD ACGME Addiction Psychiatry Fellows. Ideal applicants will have advanced clinical, administrative and education skills.

VASDHS provides a full range of patient care services including inpatient and outpatient care, with state-of-the-art technology as well as education and research. VASDHS serves one of the nation’s largest veteran populations (249,594 Veterans within the San Diego and Imperial Valley Counties). VASDHS is a teaching hospital system offering many opportunities for teaching, mentoring, and supervising residents and trainees of other disciplines. There is a longstanding and close affiliation with UCSD. VASDHS has one of the largest research programs in the VA nationally.
