AAAP Travel Award Applications are Open!

Apply for one of these prestigious Awards for AAAP’s 34th Annual Meeting and Scientific Symposium (December 7 – 11, 2023, in San Diego, CA). All winners receive at least one year of free AAAP membership and one-year free registration to the meeting.

Note: Those who have previously been awarded a AAAP travel award of any kind are not eligible to receive a travel award.

AAAP John Renner Award

Given to medical students, residents, and fellows who are interested in learning about substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric disorders.

Winners receive free registration to the 34th Annual Meeting, one free year of AAAP membership, and covered travel expenses to the 34th Annual Meeting. Application deadline is July 10th.

Regional Conference Award

Given to residents or fellows who have an interest in Addiction Psychiatry, demonstrate leadership in the field, and are enrolled in an ACGME or another accredited psychiatry residency program.

This award is designed to give Trainees the opportunity to lead their own educational activity under the mentorship of their AAAP Area Director. Dedicated trainee leaders are encourage to apply for this valuable opportunity, and support Addiction Psychiatry within their geographical region.

Winners receive free registration to the 34th Annual Meeting, one free year of AAAP membership, and covered travel expenses to the 34th Annual Meeting. Application deadline is July 10th.

International Conference Award

Given to residents or fellows living outside the U.S. who have an interest in Addiction Psychiatry, demonstrate leadership in the field, and are enrolled in an ACGME or another accredited psychiatry residency program.

This award is designed to give Trainees the opportunity to lead their own educational activity under the mentorship of their AAAP Area Director. Dedicated trainee leaders are encourage to apply for this valuable opportunity, and support Addiction Psychiatry within their geographical region.

Early Career Addiction Psychiatry Award

Given to residents, fellows, or early-career psychiatrists. Awardees are chosen based on the quality of original research in the field of substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric disorders.

The awardee will present their work at the annual meeting, receive one-year AAAP membership, one-year free registration to the 34th Annual Meeting, and cover travel expenses to the 34th Annual Meeting. Application deadline is July 10th.

Sheldon Miller Conference Award

Given to PGY3 residents enrolled in programs related to the treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring psychiatric disorders. All awardees are formally nominated by their residency directors.

Awardees receive two years of free AAAP membership, two years of free registration to AAAP’s Annual Meetings, and covered travel expenses to the 34th Annual Meeting. Nominations due July 10th.
