These education and training resources were developed for primary care providers. The overarching goal of PCSS-MOUD is to provide the most effective evidenced-based clinical practices in the prevention of OUD through proper opioid prescribing practices, identifying patients with OUD, and the treatment of opioid use disorder.

SUD 101 Core Curriculum

PCSS-MOUD clinical experts have created 23 modules that provide an overview of evidence-based practices in the prevention, identification, and treatment of substance use disorders and co-occurring medical and psychiatric conditions for a variety of populations. Performance-in-Practice (PIP)

Improving Clinical Practice with Patients who have Opioid Use Disorder (OUD)

The American Academy of Addiction Psychiatry and the PCSS-MOUD team have created a Performance-in-Practice (PIP) activity to help you and your practice treat opioid use disorder.

A PIP activity is a Performance Improvement CME (PI CME) activity designed to assist physicians, PAs, nurses, and nurse practitioners in determining individual practice gaps and addressing them through a performance improvement plan designed to increase competence, performance, and patient outcomes.

PCSS-MOUD Clinical Roundtable

PCSS-MOUD offers Clinical Roundtables on a variety of topics, giving providers the opportunity to ask questions of a clinical expert. Questions and cases are submitted in advance, but the roundtables also allow and promote interaction between health professionals and clinical experts.

Preparation and Injection of Extended-Release Naltrexone (Vivitrol)

Video Description: This video briefly illustrates preparation and administration of the naltrexone injection. This video is designed to complement other educational materials available through the PCSS-MAT program and to be used in conjunction with the PCSS-MAT mentoring program. The video will help providers to gain familiarity with the medication administration procedure in order to minimize the incidence of failed procedures and the incidence of adverse injection site reactions.

This video is to be used only for illustrative purposes and not to be used as a replacement for the detailed instructions for the use of medication that is found in Vivitrol Prescribing Information. A more comprehensive video summarizing directions for use of Vivitrol can also be found on the manufacturer’s website.
