HHS Issues Request for Information on Addiction and Recovery

As part of the Great American Recovery Initiative, the Department of Health & Human Services (HHS) is requesting input on research, programs, policies and strategies to improve substance use and mental illness prevention, treatment and recovery efforts.

Through this request for information, HHS invites comments from patients, family members and caregivers, health providers, policymakers, community and faith-based organizations, and others. HHS is seeking input on evidence-based programs, policy improvements, evaluation, stigma reduction, workforce development, and the use of technologies such as artificial intelligence to address addiction, mental illness, and co-occurring conditions.

Comments must be submitted electronically to [email protected] as described in the Federal Register notice no later than July 5, 2026.
