He is a Distinguished Life Fellow in the American Psychiatric Association and a Fellow of the American College of Neuropsychopharmacology. He has served as a Congressional Fellow in the US House of Representatives and is a long-standing member of various commissions with the National Academy of Sciences, the Food and Drug Administration, the Federal Trade Commission, and the Department of Defense primarily related to veteran health and drug safety and risk management.
