Target Audience Statement
Research supports the use of specific practices for supporting families affected by a loved one’s substance use disorder. However, the dissemination of these practices has been limited and often absent from curriculums used in the professional training arena. This has negatively impacted the clinical care families receive in the community and limited the opportunities for practitioners to become proficient in the application of these evidence-based strategies. The aim of this workshop is to help bridge this particular professional and educational gap.
This workshop is to help clinicians become more effective in helping family members learn the use of communication, behavioral, and self-care strategies in order to improve their functioning and the functioning of their loved one who has a substance use disorder
